Let's Build Something Meaningful Together
ELEV8 With MePhotography
Lifestyle, artist shoots, fashion, and anything with deep texture. Photography is the same practice as the music, in a different medium.
Light first
I shoot toward light rather than away from it. Blown-out windows, hard shadow, a face half in the dark — the exposure is a choice about what the viewer is allowed to see, and withholding is part of the composition.
Texture over polish
Grain, fabric, sweat, worn wood, a room that has been used. I would rather a frame feel like a place someone actually stood than look retouched into nothing. Texture is what makes an image hold up on the second look.
The moment between poses
Working with artists taught me the frame I want is usually the one right after they stop performing. So I keep shooting through the reset, the laugh, the exhale — the same way a vocal take lands once the singer forgets the mic is there.
Same practice, different medium
Producing a record and building a frame are the same problem: decide what the subject is, then remove everything competing with it. I edit photographs the way I mix — cut until only the thing that matters is loud.
